Conception in San Francisco, CA 2025
January 20th to 24th
Choreograph your own path.
Conception is a 30-hour, inquiry-based intensive designed to immerse you in the creative process of dance-making and help you discover your unique style and artistic voice. Open to dancers of all styles and genres, this intensive offers a supportive community where you’ll learn movement techniques and engage in guided activities that help you shape and personalize your movements, deepening your choreographic skills and refining your artistic vision.
You’ll start the week with a rough draft of a choreography to share with the group. Throughout the intensive, we’ll explore key elements of dance—time, space, shape, dynamics, musicality, and texture—pushing these concepts further to help you develop movement that aligns with your personal vision. Along the way, we’ll also cover how to give and receive critical feedback, ensuring a collaborative environment that supports artistic growth.
By the end of the week, you’ll gain greater clarity of intention and learn how to effectively support your artistic vision within your choreography.
Conception is designed to meet you wherever you are in your dance journey. Whether you are experienced or just beginning to find your artistic voice, this intensive provides the tools, feedback, and community to help you uncover and develop what makes your style uniquely yours.
